Freelance Video Editor in Amsterdam

I’m Tom Burggraaff, a freelance video editor based in Zaandam, near Amsterdam. With over ten years of experience in post-production, I help production companies, agencies and brands turn their footage into clear, engaging and polished video content.

My background is mainly in commercials and branded content, but I also edit corporate films, social content, podcasts, videocasts and online campaigns. I can work independently from my own edit suite or join an existing post-production team when extra support is needed.

Video Editing

Every project needs its own rhythm, tone and visual language. I combine strong visuals with detailed sound editing to create films that feel complete and keep the viewer engaged.

Social Video and Content Repurposing

Existing footage can often be used for much more than one main film. I can turn longer videos, interviews, podcasts or campaign footage into shorter versions for social media and other online channels.

This can include:

  • Short vertical videos for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts
  • Cutdowns in different lengths and formats
  • Social snippets from podcasts or interviews
  • Subtitled versions
  • Multiple language or market versions
  • Re-edits made from existing footage
  • Platform-specific deliverables

This gives brands and production teams more usable content without having to start a new production every time.

Podcast and Videocast Editing

I edit both audio-led podcasts and multicamera videocasts. This can range from a straightforward conversation edit to a complete visual package with titles, graphics, subtitles and social clips.

I can take care of:

  • Multicamera editing
  • Removing mistakes, pauses and unwanted sections
  • Basic audio clean-up
  • Adding intros, outros, music and graphics
  • Creating full episodes and shorter promotional clips
  • Exporting versions for YouTube, social media and podcast platforms

VFX and Motion Graphics

Alongside editing, I can help with smaller visual-effects and motion-graphics tasks. This is useful when a shot needs some extra attention without involving a separate VFX department.

Examples include:

  • Removing unwanted objects or imperfections
  • Product clean-ups
  • Screen replacements
  • Simple compositing
  • Titles and animated typography
  • Logo animations
  • Motion graphics for social content and explainers

For larger or more specialised jobs, I also have access to a broad network of freelance creatives and post-production specialists.

Software and Workflow

I mainly work in DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects. I can fit into an existing workflow or manage the edit independently, from organising the footage through to the final exports.

Projects can be shared through the client’s preferred storage or review platform. I can also prepare different versions, aspect ratios and technical deliverables for online, social and broadcast use.

Remote or on Location

I work remotely from my own edit suite in Zaandam and regularly collaborate with clients in Amsterdam and throughout the Netherlands. Depending on the project, I can also work on location in the Amsterdam and Zaandam area.

Remote collaboration is also possible for clients elsewhere in the Netherlands or internationally. I speak Dutch and English fluently and have experience working on campaigns for different countries and markets.

Over the past ten years, I have worked on content for brands including McDonald’s, KFC, Allianz, VodafoneZiggo, IKEA, bol.com, Red Bull, L’Or, Carhartt and the Dutch government.
